After much thought and discussion, the United States Pro Kart Series presented by MG Tires and IAME-USA East (USPKS) has released its Competition Classes for the 2018 racing season.  As per the series mantra, the focus is once again on providing great racer value; putting a premium on track time, fun, and fairness.

With the declining participation in the Yamaha Cadet and Junior classes, it became obvious that there was no longer support for those classes at the Pro level, so the Series will feature 100% IAME classes for 2018.  IAME has been integral to ensuring the Series has all the necessary Tech tools at their disposal, and this has helped make USPKS one of the top series in the country in Tech ability and accuracy.  In short, if it’s not legal, don’t bother bringing it.

IAME KA100

The inaugural KA100 Senior class provided some of the best racing in North America in 2017, with unparalleled engine parity and reliability out of the box.  So the addition of the IAME KA100 Junior class for 2018 was a no-brainer.  Since the start of 2017, a substantial number of KA engine packages have been sold nationwide, and many juniors are anxious to make the move to this nimble yet powerful package.

X30 Masters/Heavy

A number of competitors have inquired about the possibility of adding an X30 Masters/Heavy to the class lineup, to create an opportunity for some the older Sr drivers and some of younger, heavier drivers to compete on a level playing field.  USPKS officials have indicated that there is room in the program and they are willing to discuss it, but a season long commitment from at least 8 drivers would be necessary to make it a Championship class.  Interested parties should contact Series Owner Mark Coats directly (contact details on the website).

Prize Package

Series officials are also putting the finishing touches on the 2018 prize package, which is getting juicier by the day.  The 2018 prize package will feature a Defending Champion program, a Team Winner’s Circle program, and many other great prizes from IAME and other Series sponsors.  For 2018, the Series is also bringing back a weekend cash purse for the top level classes.  Look for complete information in the coming weeks.

Discounted full season Pre-registration will be going live on the Series website before the end of December.  Watch the website and the Facebook page for the announcement, and complete 2018 season information.
